Samsung May Release a Water Resistant Galaxy S4

The Sony Xperia Z is regarded as being a serious competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S4. Apart from having better looks, one of the main advantages of the Sony Xperia Z over the Galaxy S4 is IP57 certification, which makes it dust resistant and water proof at a depth of up to 1 metre for up to 30 minutes. Huawei have also released a 5 inch phablet that is dust and water resistant, which goes by the name of Ascend D2.

Samsung have launched a few water resistant phones over the years, but these have mostly been mid-range phones. Of particular interest is the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2, a smartphone that was released just a month ago. The Xcover 2 is IP67 certified, which means that it is dust proof and water proof at a depth of 1m for up 30 minutes. (In case you did not understand the differences, IP67 phones are certified as being dust proof while IP57 phones are certified as being dust resistant). The Xcover 2 comes with a Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9 and 4 inch screen. Now it looks like Samsung is ready to release a water proof and dust proof version of its current flagship model, the Galaxy S4.

Perhaps Samsung does not want to feel inferior to any other company which is why it decided to launch a water resistant version of its flagship. However one should point out the fact that these news might not be true after all, even though the rumours suggest that the news has been leaked by the president of Samsung Gulf Electronics in a question and answer session.
