The Lenovo K900 – a 5.5 Inch Phablet that is Less than 7 mm Thick

Lenovo will soon be releasing the K900, a 5.5 inch screen phablet that is only 0.27 inches (6.9 mm) thick and weighs just 162 g (5.71 oz). The K900 has a 1080p full-HD screen with a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch and a resolution of 1080 x 1920. Apart from having a gorilla glass 2 screen, the phablet has a robust body that is made up of stainless steel and polycarbonate. It will be available in four different colours – one particular design, the Diamond Plate design, incorporates gem like designs on the backside.

While Levovo hopes to steal away some of the market of Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy Note III, one should note that the K900 uses an Intel Atom Z2580 chipset and a dual-core 2 GHz processor. On paper this is certainly less powerful than the eight-core processor of the Note III, however one should point out that this is a completely new chipset by Intel. After all, not everyone is ready to pay a premium price for the Note III and Lenovo knows this very well.

The Lenovo K900 will have 16 GB of internal, 2 GB of RAM and a microSD slot which will take cards up to a maximum of 32 GB. The battery will be a 2500 mAh one and the phablet will run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Lenovo’s new phablet will have stereo FM radio, a 13 MP main camera with F1.8 focal length lens (very wide aperture for a smartphone or phablet), a 2 MP front camera and dual LED flash. The K900 is expected to be officially released in India in May 10th and although there are no official price details, it is expected to sell in the range of Rs 25,000, which is equivalent to about $ 465 or € 355. Thus the pricing is very competitive when compared to the prices for the current flagship phablets made by Samsung, HTC, Sony and others.
