The Xperia A – Sony’s New Baby

Sony is looking to release a new smartphone by the name of Xperia A very soon. Having extinguished all the letters of the alphabet in its Xperia range of smartphones, Sony is now starting from the letter “A”.

It is still not clear what screen size what the screen size will be: some sources seem to agree that the Sony Xperia A will be a five inch screen phablet with a 1080p resolution full HD screen, just like the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL. However, according to one particular source, Sony’s new baby will be a 4.6 inch screen mini-phablet. The processor speed is also unknown, however most sources seem to agree that the Xperia A will have the same processor capabilities as the Xperia Z and ZL, i.e. a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5 Ghz processor and 2 GB of RAM.

Inside the Xperia A, one should find 16 GB of storage, however it is not yet clear whether it will be expandable by means of a microSD card. The new smartphone is expected to come with a 13-megapixel camera and it is expected to support LTE networks.

The battery is expected to have a capacity of 2300 mAh capacity; however one definite advantage over the Xperia Z range of smartphones is the fact that the battery will be user replaceable. On the minus side, having a removable battery would probably mean that the Xperia A will be probably thicker than the Xperia Z and ZL. According to the information available, Sony will unveil the Xperia A in a couple of days time, exactly on Wednesday 15th May.
