Blackberry May Be Looking to Release a Phablet

Blackberry lost a significant part of the market share these last few years and not surprisingly the company has been in serious financial difficulties as of late. As a matter of fact, Blackberry lost $118 million in 2012.

However, after releasing the Blackberry Z10, the company’s current flagship device, Blackberry looks to be finding its feet again. The Z10 sold about a million units in the last three months of 2012 and the Z10 has only been released in the United States a month or so ago. In actual fact, sales of the Z10 helped Blackberry to make a profit and not surprisingly, Blackberry will be releasing new smartphone models this year. The first of these should be released in the next few days and comes by the name of Blackberry Q10, a smartphone with a keyboard but lower specs than the Z10.

At the same time, there are rumours that Blackberry is looking to release a 5 inch phablet called the U10 before the end of this year. While some of the rumours state that the U10 will look very similar to the Z10, others state that the U10 will have a slider for the benefit of those who still want to use a physical keyboard. Other rumours suggest that Blackberry will instead produce a 4.65 inch smartphone called Artisto later this year and not a 5 inch phablet. According to these rumours, the Artisto will run on quad-core 1.9 GHz Qualcomm Krait processors, 4GB of RAM, 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 3000mAh battery.
